Poppy lies

Perhaps as we remember the fallen
let us not forget why they were there

Only boys in too many instances
in a conflict they wouldn’t understand

Put there in the interests of profits,
egged on by thoughts of king, country, empire

Paraded as heroes; our dead heroes;
sold short by fathers, mothers and us all;

Youth, tragic a whole generation lost

Prayer to a Buddha

Buddha WP

In the corners of a mind somewhere
Is a peace that transcends all others
A peace made of silence and serenity
A peace made between body and spirit
Never to broken by the aggression of humdrum existence
That mind is to be cherished
For it is the future and our salvation
We should give thanks to those that provide its nourishment
Be they noble or humble
For they be our modern day saviour.
